How to Prepare For a Cabin Camping Trip
If you’re about to go on a cabin camping trip for the first time, congratulations. Cabin camping can be some of the most fun you have, and it’s a lot easier than other types of winter camping. Many campgrounds’ cabins come outfitted with full- or partial-kitchens, and beds, making cabin camping trips less complicated than others.
That being said, there are some things you should know beforehand.
You’ll still need the essentials. – Cabin camping certainly makes things easier, but you’ll still need to bring a few things with you. After all, it’s always best to be prepared. Make sure you have all of your cooking and kitchen supplies, toiletries, warm clothes, hiking clothes, food, water, and firewood.
You’re going to want bedding. – Some cabins have comfortable beds. Others have cots. It all depends on the campgrounds. It’s best if you can find out what’ll be there before you go, but in the event that you can’t, bring plenty of blankets, a pillow, a sleeping bag, and a sleeping pad. That way, you’ll have a comfy place to sleep no matter what.
You should bring some games, too. – Some campsites offer more than the usual fair of activities. The operative word there being some. Others may only offer the all of the beauty and splendor that nature has to offer, which means you’re going to want to have some things to do at night and during downtime between hiking and other outdoor activities. Be sure to pack cards, Apples to Apples, Bananagrams, and maybe some classic board games, like Monopoly and Scrabble.
Cabin camping is a lot of fun and much easier than other types of camping, but you still need to prepare yourself. So long as you pack the essentials, plenty of bedding, and fun games, you’ll have a great time.
