New York State’s Hidden Vacation Treasures
In just a couple of weeks, the kids will be out of school, and summer vacation will be here. The next few months are usually chalk-full of families setting out on great family vacations across the globe.
But you may not realize that you can find great vacations right here in the U.S. And if you live in New York, you don’t have to travel to Florida or California to have fun in the sun either. In fact, there are plenty of vacation spots in New York that you may not know about.
Here are some of your choices.
- Villa Roma. Located in the Catskill Mountains, this resort offers exciting activities for the whole family. There are golf courses, bowling alleys, and tennis courts for adults, while children can engage in scavenger hunts, storytelling, and eat plenty of ice cream. The resort also features ski slopes, and an ice skating rink, as well as six different dining options.
- Sagamore Resort. This resort sits in Bolton Landing, New York, and offers a breathtaking view of the Adirondack Mountains, and Lake George. Situated on Green Island, the entire resort is surrounded by water, making it a prime location for swimming, fishing, and several other water activities. The resort has several eateries, and also a spa that adults can relax in as their children spend the day at a kids-only camp.
- Darien Lake Resort. Just a short drive away from Buffalo, New York, Darien Lake is home to one of New York’s most thrilling amusement parks. Families can stay a few nights at the resort, and enjoy the nightly laser show. They can spend their day on dozens of rides, splashing around in lazy rivers, slippery slides, and Hook’s Lagoon. There are also plenty of snacks, such as popcorn, ice cream, funnel cake, and pizza, and the world famous Niagara Falls are only about a half an hour away.
Great family vacations always include a little extra fun, plenty of relaxation, and just enough excitement. And you don’t necessarily have to travel to the best vacation spots in Virginia, or vacation resorts in Maryland, Florida, or Hawaii to have a fun summer getaway — New York will do just fine.
